is f'(x) = displacement something you should be learning in maths? I'm in high school and i got an F because I didn't know this.?

f'(x) is the first derivative of the function f(x).

It specifies the slope of the graph f(x) at each point. This is taught in introductory calculus. If you are seeing this before then, then perhaps the f' (f-prime) notation is being used for a different purpose. Check back on your notes, read your book and/or ask your teacher to explain it again.
