when is the best time of year to plant trees?

I usually plant them in the fall. I have planted some in the spring (got some free trees then) and they did OK, but fall is best.
autumn ...the tree has time to get some roots down before winter ..without having to make leaves
For bare root plants between October and March when the tree is dormant. I prefer Autumn myself as the tree is then settled and ready to grow away in the spring when the sap starts to rise again. Pot grown trees can be planted at any time but in dry weather will need lots of watering.
Autumn. The garden centres in the UK have loads.
best planting seasons depending on your location. spring is best time period generally .
