Your wifi card is probably fried and you can buy a USB wifi adapter for $5 on Ebay.

Check to see if there is a switch/button combination that switches your wifi on or off.

If that doesn't work, try disabling and then re-enabling the driver.

If its a laptop it'll have a switch somewhere on the side or front. If its a desktop its not going to have wifi unless you buy a wifi card or a wifi ready motherboard.

If you are not seeing any WiFi connections, read this. If not, skip this paragraph.

You need to be using a computer that has the capabilities of sending and receiving data through a WiFi chip. Most laptops come with this built in, but most desktop computers lack this capability. If you do not have a built in WiFi chip you will need to purchase one and install it. If you do, then it is likely broken, and you should get it fixed or replaced. If this is not your problem, make sure that the WiFi connection you are looking for is not hidden. This can be changed within the settings of the router.

If you do see WiFi connections but cannot connect to them, read this. If not, read the above paragraph.

Make sure you are putting in the correct credentials if they are requested. There may also be a problem with your hardware. Try running anti malware software. I don't have much advice for this, as I lack experience with this field, and know that there could be any number of problems causing it.

Hope I could help :)

Make sure the wifi card is switched on, on modern Dell's this may be the F2 key.
Rt click on the network icon and run the troubleshooter and see if it can fix it or find the problem

Does the laptop have a switch that turns wifi on/off?
2015-10-22 2:32 am
Too little information to go for. It means that your computer is missing Wireless Drivers. You Ethernet Drivers are fine, hence why you are able to connect with one, but not with the other.

If drivers are fine then something wrong with your wireless router settings, or your wireless settings to that network.
2015-10-22 4:41 pm
1.Uninstall your WiFi driver first.
2.reboot the system.
3.install the driver again in safe mode.
If this doesn't work then install some other copy of windows(windows 8) or something like that.
P.s-hope it helps

plug t into the ethernet go to device manager and click on virless devices and find your wifi device and click on it so that it comes up a opyion to update drivers.. if this doesnt work you might have a very old computer and the wifi device is probably not compatible with the way you'r router is bbroadcasting internet
2015-10-26 11:47 pm
Go to Microsoft and install plug and play and the 802.11 adapter for your operating system, it can be found in device manager, or maybe they just need updated...is it a laptop or desktop, laptops have built in wifi adapters so don't go buying one.

Maybe go in to network, click on your network , change adapter settings, properties , IPv4 , properties, make sure obtain ip automatically are both checked...

Also what should've been mentioned.... on the top of your keyboard you should have Wi-Fi on /Wi-Fi block key ...my key shows a wifi signal on f12

U can also try
In cmd as administrator
Route -f
Ipconfig /release
Ipconfig /renew
Arp -d *
Nbtstat -r
Nbtstat -rr
Ipconfig /flushdns
Ipconfig /registerdns

Or maybe you need to configure your routers wifi signal

Check wifi settings of your computer
2015-10-26 3:45 pm
What is the particular model of your laptop. You can find this by right clicking on My Computer and click on system properties.
2015-10-26 2:59 pm
You probably have the WIFI router set to a protocal that your laptop can't see. That, or your initial failed connection is remembered in the PC. Go into your laptop wifi settings and delete all connections. Then restart the laptop. IF the LT doesn't see the router in the available connections, then there is a setting in the router that needs to be changes. IF this is a public WI FI spot, you need to talk to the site about settings. If it is yours personally, then use the reset button to clear the router out completely and set to factory defaults and then reconnect your devices. If there is a firewall active in the router, or on the PC, you may need to clear these too.

Will need more information, to determine which end is not working.
2015-10-25 4:53 pm
How far from the router are you? I experience the same thing occasionally on my laptop.
I usually have to switch the wifi switch off on the laptop & on then I reboot & I'm back online. My laptop & tower are both about 50' away & on the lower floor where the router is. Good luck. :)

If you see WiFi Icon, which installed in your Driver, you can use Wi-Fi in your Desktop Computer

Install a Ethernet Driver. If it doesn't work, update the driver.

2015-10-22 11:50 am
Does the laptop have a switch that turns wifi on/off?
2015-10-22 11:37 am
Make sure the WiFi card is switched on. If it is, make sure the Wireless driver is correct and up to date. Use Dell System detect on the Dell website to make things easier.
2015-10-23 5:40 am
Start> search "open network and sharing centre" > change adapter settings. Check here for your wireless adapter and right click on it and select "enable" (if disable shows it's enabled). After doing this process and you can't able to connect means try to install WiFi driver software for you system.
2015-10-23 2:09 am
Most probably your built-in wifi was damaged/spoilt given that you could connect via ethernet cord. Just use that one which can connect to the internet as PC repairing is pricey nowadays.
2015-10-22 6:58 pm
Start> search "open network and sharing centre" > change adaptor settings. Check here for your wireless adaptor and right click on it and select "enable" (if disable shows it's enabled).
If only ethernet and no wireless adaptor showing - it's turned off or is likely a faulty NIC (network interface card). If NIC faulty you can instead buy a wireless adaptor (plugs into USB port) to save money on getting it repaired - £20 is roughly the price.

Still no working?
Go to start menu and search devmgmt.msc (press enter to get to device manager pop up). Locate and select the arrow next to network adaptors - right click on wireless one and go to properties - check enabled (this device is working properly). Can update drivers here. Delete the driver and select scan for hardware changes if still no working. You can get driver software specific to your machine on internet for free.
If some networks show but not yours - check your wifi is turned on your router or reset your router.

My Acer has a push-button radio on/off switch. The Dell I'm on uses an Electronic on/off switch.
In the bottom right corner of the screen next to your "Speakers Mute" Icon you might have
a WiFi Icon; it's a dot with "signal" radiating outward. If it shows "x" on it your Wireless is
turned off. By clicking the icon it gives you options/modes to select and likely includes the
electronic on/off switch.

Is the computer a desktop or a laptop? Does it have a wireless (WiFi) adapter (many desktop machines do not)? Have you installed Windows 7 yourself, if so have you installed the wireless drivers? There may be a hardware or a software switch to disable the wireless. Without knowing the exact model of your Dell, then the location of any switch will simply be guess work.

Dell quite often use software features accessed by holding the Fn key then pressing one of the 'F' keys across the top of the keyboard. If you have installed your Windows 7 yourself, you may have to install the Dell function utility so you can access these special functions.

The first step when asking for help is to provide sufficient information for someone to be able to offer a fully informed answer.
2015-10-22 2:04 pm
Most of the laptops have a shortcut where you can Enable/Disable wifi connectivity by pressing the FN key and one of the F(number) keys.

If not, Then your computer's drivers aren't working well. :)
