I generally don't ask rather I look at the woman and I can most of the time tell sometimes I even surprise them. If a woman is pregnant and her belly is more outward that generally means it's a boy if she is pregnant and her belly is wide rather than outward it's generally a girl. This isn't a 100% of telling what gender the baby is though but every time I tell a pregnant woman they are having a boy or a girl I turn out to be correct.

Just the opposite! If not married to her the Bible state Death Sentence for the man! Even Jesus says this in the New Testament!

Muslims tend to want boys as they are cheeper to marry off.
In some Healthboards in the UK this is so critical that they refuse to let the parents know the sex of the baby because too many people were aborting solely because of the gender of the child.
