Hi, I'm 14. I have really heavy flows when it comes to that time of the month. I'm going to Disneyland in less than 2 weeks and that's the same week as my period! I always have to go to the bathroom every 10 minutes and I don't want that to stop the fun. I want to take some kind of pill but my mom said I can't. I've tried Target brand pads because I'm BROKE and they don't work at all! So I tried the Always Teen with wings. Those do work but their so thin I'm afraid I might leak. I have had an incident at Disneyland before with the Target pads. It was really embarrassing! What type of pads should I wear that would last a few hours that also control heavy flows? (Please don't suggest tampons. I can't use them. My mom said their gross.)
Have you talked to your mom about getting an appointment with a gynecologist if she doesn't want you to take the pill they have other options like getting a shot every few months. As for pads if you aren't open to tampons when my period is really heavy I like the equate brand. It is very absorbent.
It's too bad your mother has odd opinion of tampons & you have to suffer. Extra heavy tampon & pad for backup would make your day much more enjoyable. I always found pads gross so I'm happy my mom used tampomlns. Me & my sisters do so our daughter's do. A wet pad feels horrible & you can't feel like your regular self.
Nothing more gross than walking around with a soaking wet bloody pad. Tampons are quite clean and sanitary and help prevent leaks. If you are buying your own feminine protection then you can buy yourself tampons. Who cares what your mom thinks of them? And again, if you are the one buying them, she doesn't even have to know. I would never recommend pads to someone who has a heavy flow, especially if you're going to be out all day. There's nothing worse then constantly having to change your pad, feeling like you're wearing a diaper, and worrying about leaks when you are just trying to have fun. I've been using tampons since I was 12, never looked back.
