Wet or Dry food for your Dog/Cat?

Since I lost one cat to UTI complications and almost lost a 2nd cat, I only feed canned food and raw for the cats.

The dog got dry food as she was a large breed and we could not afford to feed canned all the time.

Experts now say that cats really do better and live longer if fed only wet food. I haven't heard if they are saying that about dogs, too, at least not yet. My dog gets dry food plus a variety of treats.

My two dogs eat wet and dry and also raw.
Never any problems.
My oldest Gsd is 14 and a half now and still plodding on ok,
so what he eats obviously suits him.

My vet says at least 50% wet food for cats, they just haven't adapted to eat dry food. Which makes sense if you think about it. We give 80/20% wet to Cat, and 40/60 wet/dry to Dog.

My cat eats mostly dry with a wet pouch every few days. My cat is super healthy, so says my vet. She is also free fed.

My dog eats dry in the morning and raw at night.

I feed dry to both my two dogs and two cats. With that said, I'm no cat expert but I've been told that it's good to give wet and dry food to cats, although when I've tried that with my cats, they end up with diarrhea. My cats are now 10 and 11 years old, so I guess that dry food only hasn't hurt them one bit. They've been as healthy as horses outside of my male cat having crystals in his urine when he was two years old. Although I'm not fond of Purina products, I've been feeding the cats Purina Pro Plan Urinary Tract Health, and they do well on it. Our cats are free fed and they are not overweight. (Maybe that's because they have each other to play with, not to mention their activities with our two dogs.) Our dogs are fed Taste of the Wild dry kibble.
