Yes, no

You'll find that there are photo websites which pay commission on stock photos. You'll also find that unless you have professional credentials, most such websites pay beans. So while you can occasionally sell a photo, you'll find that you never really make money off of them.

The new economy in such things is about getting amateurs to give their work away for almost nothing, so no professionals are needed.

Quite likely someone is trying to figure out how to get models to sign away their rights for nothing so they can close the loop.

Legit, yes. But it is extremely difficult to actually make money from photography. "Oh I Got Gambling Money" is spot on, everyone wants to make money from their photography but very few are willing to purchase from others. Think, how many prints have you purchased from other artists?

The most success I have had is selling prints in shops, galleries, and art shows. Even then, success isn't staggering and most consignment galleries will turn you away due to the large amount of photography prints gathering dust on their shelves (it is simply a poor seller).

Another option (one I haven't dealt with for a while) is to upload to stock sites or contact publishers (posters, calendars, puzzles, etc.) and be paid a few bucks while they make more than you off your work. But, stock sites have become extremely picky (microstock used to be more relaxed, but have taken over the stock market and can afford to be picky) in terms of quality and content. They have an overabundunce of many subjects (landscapes, etc.) and state that a hammer against a white background will outsell a beautiful waterfall (due to their customers' needs).

No matter what method you go with, you are entering a market that is full of competition, full of people willing to give their work away (to get their name out there, not knowing it is BS and doesn't work), full of people whose only background in photography is cell phones and silly apps, and lacking of people who actually care about supporting you and your work.

Good luck!

Yes, ask permission from the client first and make them sign it so that they are obligated to pay you when you send them the prints.
