I'm a certified paramedic ( national registry ) but I'm very interested in learnit about bombs in the military and how to diffuse them, I always get told to join as A combat
Medic even tho that's only an EMT level so it'll b very easy for me .. What's everyone's opinion? Also , what's the death rate and chance I actually get to go out and diffuse bombs in an actual war zone rather then. Just sit at base all day

Being a paramedic/EMT has nothing to do with being an EOD Tech.; however, your experience may come in handy much later on, once you are already a tech.

Normally, the robots are used to investigate and/or destroy the ordnance (not necessary defusing/neutralizing); you do not want to risk your life or limbs to do something if the tools are available. However, if the robot cannot be used or it is not available, then you will have to don the suit and walk the line.

There are plenty of UXO's and land mines to take care of; and you may also have to take care of the expired-ordnance (or the ones that are about to be expired) as well.

Since 2000, 45 Army EOD Techs. have lost their lives while on duty.
