∫ sec θ tan θ dθ = sec θ

because d/dθ (sec θ) = sec θ tan θ

Let F(θ) = sec θ

substitute the upper limit π/4
F(π/4) = sec(π/4) = 1 / cos(π/4) = √2

substitute the lower limit 0
F(0) = sec(0) = 1/cos(0) = 1

subtract:
F(π/4)-F(0) = √2 -1
