In the Recovery section of Windows 10 Settings there is an option to go back to the previous OS.
Providing you do it within 30 days of original installation of Windows 10.
After 30 days that option goes away and if you do a reset it will be windows 10

You supposedly have 30 days after upgrading to Windows 10 from 7 or 8, 8.1 , to return to your original Windows software without penalty. There is supposed to be a "button" you can click on before the 30 days that uninstalls Windows 10 and you go back to whatever Windows version you upgraded from. The thing I'm not sure about is...do you only get the one chance to upgrade to Windows 10 for free, if you go back to a prior version of Windows? Do you have to pay for Windows 10 in the future?

The 10 upgrade removes the recovery files. So factory reset does not work.

Yes it Will, provided the original software installed was windows 8 and recovery option was enabled at the time of installation.

If you installed Win10 legally you should get prompted to pick which you want to boot from. That's assuming when you upgraded to Win10 you didn't delete the Win8 partition.

It will go back to windows 8 but my understanding is that you can't access the recovery partition.

If the factory reset partition is still present and accessible then it would return it to factory defaults

No. All it would do is take you back to Windows 10 as it would be if you just installed it.

Yes. And you will loose all programs and data.

Or you can revert Windows 10 to Windows 8 without losing all your data and programs using the Revert option.

Not at all, if you just refresh or factory reset, you ain't gonna lose windows 10.
