Want to know opinion about texting in relationship?

Im dating my boyfriend about a year. Im studying abroad so we meet rarely, so the only one way of comunications is texting/calling and the thing is bothering me is that he is not doing this. I know there are people who are not into texting, but im sure that people who are in love want to communicate with that person and for him its okay not to text for two weeks, months.. once it took 3 moths unless i will and then we will have normal convo. I trust him he is not a player, he is loving, caring, kinda shy guy. I told him not once to text me, but he is just not doing it.
I dont want to sound to him clingy or make a big problem out of it but it really makes me mad when other guys are hitting on me and he obviously doing nothing, cuz sometimes i even think that pc games and mobile is more important for him. Should i really argue with him or not and make problem of it? :/
