WHAT IS THE BEST TRAVEL WEDDING DRESS BOX TO TAKE ON A FLIGHT AS HAND LUGGAGE?

Hey guys & girls I'm finally engaged and we are jetting off to Mauritius

early 2016 to get married. I'm so excited but worried about my dress getting there in one piece, I'd like to take it on the plane as hand luggage, so it is close by me.

Anyone have any advice, thanks :) Steph..

Hey Steph, I purchased a wedding dress travel box from a uk company
who were very helpful. They gave us advice on hand luggage size restrictions
and their boxes can be personalised, which was fantastic. Their boxes are also
PH Neutral and come with acid free tissue, so we knew the wedding dress would
be kept in great condition. There were only a few creases on her dress, which were
soon gone, we just ran the shower hot and hung the dress up in the bathroom for a while.
Give them a try, I'm sure they will be able to get you sorted, have a lovely wedding.

EVery airline is different, a lot have garment closet, because understandably you're nervous putting it in checked baggage, but you should check first what the specs are for the airline you're flying with. Alternately if you can pack it in a box that fits carry-on maximum dimensions then it will go in the overhead bin. And if you have an empty seat beside you, you might request from the flight attendant to stretch it out (in a garment bag of course) on the seat next to you so it doesn't get crinkled.
If you're not willing to put it down below in checked, be prepared you might have to buy an extra seat for it, like Ryan Air, or some other airlines.
I would be very leery about shipping the dress because you never know what delays you could encounter or it might get mishandled and damaged/ If you were to go that route you would want to leave as much time as possible and have it shipped to someone trustworthy on the other end so you know when you get to your destination it will have arrived safe and sound. So make sure it's with a reputable company and it is insured. From having transported my dress that you might fit it into an oversized suitcase, I would advise to make sure it's one of those bullet proof ones- well probably not bullet proof, but they're the hard cased ones. make sure your garment bag is waterproof.
Also make sure you have a few plans sorted ahead of time, that the destination you're flying to either has a professional dry cleaner that you will definitely have access to before the big day, if not, the hotel should have a steamer that is squared away for you, or.....plan C to hang your dress high up in the bathroom not touching anything, and fan off, door closed, and shower on hot (let the water run for about 10 minutes before hanging the dress, then leave the dress in the bathroom for about 20 minutes, and then hang it in the living room- usually works to get out wrinkles.
Always best to research all this well before you go and have a few back up plans in place, weddings are stressful enough when they're in your backyard (figuratively), so many unknowns when you're planning a wedding across the ocean. Ours was a destination wedding, there were lots of extra questions to ask and contingencies to plan for than you would have to consider for a local wedding. Not overwhelming, just really important to do research.
Good luck and congrats, lovely destination ::)

wedding dresses normally travel in garment bags on airlines. they will hang it in the closet for you at the front of the plane.

Call the air line and ask.
Most wedding dresses are to big for carry on.

You could look at Fed EX or something like that.

Put it in a garment bag and nicely ask the flight attendant if (s)he will store it in the closet for you.

Only way to have a shot is a sturdy garment bag, but you will still run the big risk of running into a strict flight attendant who FORCE you to put it down below. Unfortunately I've seen brides try and get told to put it below or get off the plane. Screaming and crying on their part did nothing. You can't carry an over-sized box on board. The box would have to adhere to carry-on size rules. Otherwise there would be no place to put it and the staff wouldn't allow it. Personally I would just check it in a sturdy double wall oversize box with a garment bag within the box. If you are really paranoid you can buy a hard plastic box normally for bicycles or find some sturdy plastic bins that would fit a wedding dress. Pack it right and it will be fine no matter what they do with it.

You've never seen one of the hundreds of movies that have normal weddings in them?
