Can a 16 year old boy get arrested for threats towards me and my family?

A ex of mine has been going around our small town throwing drinks in my face spitting on me, went up to my parents in a store and said he was going to kick their butts and has now busted out my dads window (I don't have proof) just verbal. He told me he did it. Can I stop him? I haven't done anything to him or told the police yet.

now would be the time to call the police. document everything he has done, or will do so you have some evidence to back you up.
