14.2t - 25.2 = 3.8t + 26.8

Get the terms containing a t-variable on one side of the equation and the terms
without any variables on the other side.

Subtract 3.8t from both sides.

14.2t - 3.8t - 25.2 = 3.8t - 3.8t + 26.8

10.4t - 25.2 = 26.8

Add 25.2 to both sides.

10.4t - 25.2 + 25.2 = 26.8 + 25.2

10.4t = 52.0

Divide both sides by 10.4.

10.4t/10.4 = 52.0/10.4

t = 5

CHECK

14.2t - 25.2 = 3.8t + 26.8

14.2(5) - 25.2 = 3.8(5) + 26.8

71.0 - 25.2 = 19.0 + 26.8

45.8 = 45.8

The above identity indicates that the value t = 5 is correct.

14.2t - 25.2 = 3.8t + 26.8

take 3.8t from each side:

10.4t - 25.2 = 26.8

add 25.2 to each side:

10.4t = 52, so

t = 52/10.4, so

t = 5

t ( 14.2-3.8) = ( 26.8 + 25.2)...t = 52 / 10.4 = 5
