Let p and q be two propositions defined as follows:
p: Nick is winning the game.
q: Nick is cheering.

Translate the following sentence into propositional logic: Nick is neither winning the game nor cheering

I think its this : -p v -q
but I'm not sure, can someone explain?

Let p' = not p , q' = not q

Nick is neither winning the game nor cheering
= p' Λ q'
= ( p v q )' , by the DeMorgan's Laws

Ans: p' Λ q'
or ( p v q )'
