No, he would not make a good president.
Donald Trump is a self-pontificating blowhard. Sure, the guy's rich, but he's also arrogant, greedy, sexist, racist, and narcissistic. He thinks that he can "make the United States great again" when he couldn't even manage his own finances, his dad gave him a business that was already worth millions, one that Trump nearly ran into the ground. In fact, he's declared bankruptcy four times, yet he somehow believes he'll manage to get the nation back on track when he can't even get himself back on track. Notice how he bashes women like Megyn Kelly and Carly Fiorina? He blows off Megyn Kelly in the GOP debate then later makes a crude remark regarding her menstrual cycle, then he insults Fiorina for how she looks. Is that, or isn't that sexist?
He's entertaining, I'll give him that, but frankly he's the clown of the Republican party and he's probably not going to get the nomination; he's just around to get additional viewership to the GOP so that the legitimate candidates like Ben Carson can become known. He also believes that building a wall will somehow prevent illegal immigrants from going underneath it. He's going to waste precious time and resources on something that's destined to fail, similar to how he managed his business failures and multiple bankruptcies. Notice how he can't tell the difference between different nationalities of Central and South Americans? That's right, he views all Hispanics as "Mexicans," and assumes that Mexico somehow sends their drug cartels here on purpose, as if the drug cartels care about what the Mexican government thinks.
Plus, he is a draft-dodger who still feels as though he can insult John McCain for his time as a Prisoner of War in Vietnam. Trump has no idea what John McCain had to go through, Trump's been a pampered rich kid with a silver spoon in his mouth all his life. In my book; McCain is a hero because he refused his own freedom due to a reluctancy to leave his brothers in arms behind. Yet, Trump somehow thinks he can lead this great nation when he can't even respect the very people who defend it.
But don't be alarmed, as mentioned earlier, Trump won't win the election, and here's why:
- Ben Carson is catching up to him on the polls and beat him in Iowa
- He's lost practically all women and latino voters (and any African-American voters will probably vote for Carson)
- Lieberman, Clinton, Giuliani and Perry all had clear leads in the early polls and still failed to get nominated
- There are still many other candidates in the race that haven't dropped out, once they do, those supporters will rally around other candidates, which most likely will not be Trump
- Polls contemplate a winner-take-all vote, but most states are not winner-take-all
- Polls contemplate all Republican-leaning registered voters or adults, but in fact only a small fraction of them will turn out for primaries and caucuses
- Trump's favorability rating right now is only at 38.1%
