If the total time for the trip takes 1.5 hr. determine her average speed in nice weather
and her average speed driving in the thunderstorm.
50/x + 15/(x - 20) = 1.5
50(x - 20) + 15x = 1.5x(x - 20)
1.5x^2 - 95x + 1000 = 0
3x^2 - 190x + 2000 = 0
(3x + 40)(x - 50) = 0
Her average speed in nice weather was 50 mph and
her average speed driving in the thunderstorm was 30 mph.
