Does appendicitis surgery have long-lasting effects?

I had my appendix removed 2 years back, when I was 12. Will it have some long lasting/permanent effects in my digestive system? Obviously I don't mind the scars I got through the laparoscopic surgery.

Complications from appendectomy are rare if the appendix has not ruptured. If it did rupture, a strict antibiotic regimen is necessary to prevent peritonitis. If the patient did have severe peritonitis and survived, that person might be at risk of future peritoneal adhesions that cause intermittent pain or even bowel obstruction.

Sounds like your risks are very, very low.

Not at all. The appendix is a useless organ. No one needs it.
