因為句末出現了過去的時間點：in the 11th century B.C.（公元前十一世紀）。我們只能用「過去簡單式」來敘述該件事：（當時）有使用到。

The Chinese have had umbrellas since the eleventh century B.C.給的是「起點時間」，是算到目前為止的狀況，這時才能用「現在完成式」(A): have had=（自以前到現在）有使用到。「現在簡單式」(C) 是用在永遠為真的敘述，如：The Chinese have umbrellas. have =（一直都）有使用到。
