The mechanism is used to propel the 19 kg slider A to the right along the track. The action is obtained by drawing the pulley attached to rod BC rapidly to the left by means of a piston P. 1) If the piston applies a constant force 29 kN to rod BC such that it moves it 0.2 m, determine the speed attained by the slider if it was originally at rest. Neglect mass of the pulleys,cable,piston, and rod BC For image: https://session.masteringengineering.com/problemAsset/1528794/9/Hibbler.ch14.p26.jpg

The work done by the piston is
W = F*d = 29kN * 0.2m = 5.8 kJ

Since all other components are massless, the sled's
KE = 5800 J = ½mv² = ½ * 19kg * v²
v = 24.7 m/s ≈ 25 m/s
