Chemistry question! A chemist needs 4.4g of a liquid solution with a density of 1.1g/mL. What volume of liquid is required?

hey its like this...... density= mass/volume .... therefore volume= mass/density = 4.4/1.1= 4... therefore he need 4 ml of that liquid
Density = Mass/Volume
To find volume you rearrange, so it s V=Mass/density
4.4/1.1 = 4ml
Look at Layl's answer and then use dimensional analysis, i.e. include units so you can see what's canceling, etc.
You have a solution that has 1.1 g/ml and you need 4.4 g. If you used 1 ml you would have 1.1 g; if you use 2 ml you get 2.2 g and so on. How does this look in an equation form?
(x ml)(1.1g/ml) = 4.4 g
xml = 4.4 g/1.1g/ml = 4 ml
Equation to find density of a substance:
density = mass/volume
rearrange to find volume,
volume = mass/density
therefore, using your numbers : 4.4/1.1 = 4.0ml
4 mL
(4.4 grams / (1.1 grams/mL)) = 4 mL
Cancel out both grams since you're dividing and you are left with 4 mL
Think of it like this. How many times will 1.1 fit into 4.4? Because this is the number you must multiply 1 mL by. 4.4 divided by 1.1 = 4....And for each "packet" of 1.1g, you have 1 mL volume. Therefore 4 x 1 mL = 4 mL
.. 4.4g.. . 1mL
----- --- x ----- --- = 4.0mL..... . note the sig figs!
.. .. .1.. . ..1.1g
density = mass / volume
volume = mass / density = (4.4 g) / (1.1 g/mL) = 4.0 mL ...... (Ans)
volume of a 4.4 g of a liquid solution with a density 1.1 g/ml = v ml = mass of 4.4 g / density 1.1 g / 1 ml = 4 ml
relation between volume & density is given by
d= m/v [d=density , v = volume , m = mass ]
or v= m/d = 4.4/1.1 = 4 ml answer
I just transferred into this class so I don't know anything
put the blue stuff in the red stuff and you will get purpule stuff
