1. "oppress" 通常是負面地對"正當的"權力,慾望,行為的"壓制.

例子有:"軍政府對人民大選要求的壓制"=Military government oppresses the calls for general elections.

2. "suppress" 通常是中性地壓制.

例子有:
This surge suppressor protects your computers from voltage surges.

3. "repress"是中性地,持續/長期地壓制

例子有:
You cannot be a nun without repressing your desires.
