Solve the following system of equations. y = -3x -6x - 3y = 6 a) (-3, 4) b) (6, -2) c) (2, -6) I came up with c. (2, -6). Am I right?

y = -3x ...... [1]
-6x - 3y = 6 ...... [2]

Put [1] into [2] :
-6x - 3(-3x) = 6
-6x + 9x = 6
3x = 6
x = 2

Put x = 2 into [1] :
y = -3(2)
y = -6

c) (2, -6) is the correct answer.

since y=-3x, -6x-3y=6 is:

-6x-3(-3x)=6

-6x+9x=6

3x=6

x=2, and since y=-3x, y=-6
