How to become closer to God?
--- To become close to God, you must become a God.
Stop believing in this nonsense. The only reason Christianity has survived is because humans are afraid of Hell. Like the sheep fears the wolf and tries to find a shepherd.
You can help people purely out of the good inside of you. And feel happy that you made someone's life better instead of wasting your life by thinking that some imaginary man exists.
All Christians think that by following some rules they can go to Heaven or something. And if they don't they go to Hell. So they try to help people purely on that. Do you see the selfish way of thinking.
@SusieQ.
Go study what Atheism is first then come back and ask me what I'm doing. I'm not trying to convert anyone. I'm trying to free the girl from wasting her life on illusions. You are all hypocrites who see what you want to see and reject all logic.
I have had countless debates with Christians and when they get stuck on one of my questions that the Bible can't answer they leave the debate completely because they try so desperately to believe that an imaginary madman exists.
@SusieQ oh lol please. I don't need stalkers.
A rant is an expression of frustration. I'm expressing the truth.
If it seems to you like I'm ranting here I'll explain it to you in a logical sense because it is obvious that you won't do any research on any other thing except for Christianity.
Atheism is the belief(or lack therefor) that there are no gods.
Convert means:
To persuade or induce to adopt a particular religion, faith, or belief.
So even if it's not a religion it is a belief. If I make you believe that pigs can fly does that mean that I am converting you?
Reply to your 3rd answer.
Sorry my brain cells can't handle seeing other persons stupidity in a calm way. So I am converting you to another faith by making you believe that pigs can fly?
Paranoid means:
Someone who is paranoid has an irrational and obsessive distrust of others.
Trusting someone's beliefs and someones as a person is a big difference.
Hysterical means:
of, relating to, or characterized by hysteria.
Hysteria means:
an uncontrollable outburst of emotion or fear, often characterized by irrationality, laughter, weeping, etc.
I am being completely rational I am not laughing or weeping etc.
A heart attack and a panic attack would make you unable to communicate. I don't see how that is related.
Reply 4:
Your feeling of being offended has made you think that I'm implying that you are stupid. And now you are acting all smart and trying to use my own words against me. Couldn't find any big words on your own could you? It made me chuckle I must be acting hysterical by your dictionary.
Well the child would be offended if their teacher told them that their experience and knowledge doesn't compare to their's even if it was the truth. People can not accept that people with more knowledge than them exist. It's like people think that a man who has studied all his life can be compared to a kid who has watched cartoons all his life.
Be grateful for what you have.
Your faith in God has nothing to do with attending the house of the lord. If it truly mattered God would have placed, going to church into the commandments. However, follow the commandments, and have faith that the word is God. Meaning everything in life is because of God.
Take everyday as a blessing. Even if life is hard keep your faith and things change and you yourself will gain strength from past experiences building a stronger bond.
Read the bible, speak kindly about God among your peers, refrain from sins, and if you were to sin which you should not, then pray for forgiveness. You must be strong within yourself, tell yourself why raping that drunk female is wrong and have the heart not to do it (for example) the spirit of God is in everyone.
When you die everything you've done in life will be presented to you by God so keep praying and life a life you'll be happy you lived. Be grateful for what you got.
Love your neighbor as yourself. You will never feel closer to God than when you are genuinely loving others.
Join a Christian youth group online or bible study group online.
As you learn the NT, pray how to live it.
God loves you more than you will ever know, it's not what you do that makes points with God, it's your heart. God wants you to do whatever it is that draws you closer to Him. That means if just watching online sermons would bring you closer than going to Church, than just watch those. But try to fellowship with other Christians whenever the opportunity arises. You do need to be baptized and get Born-Again if you aren't already.

you're guaranteed to get closer to God ...
There is a consistent answer for this. The way to gain faith in God and increase spirituality is to:
1. Pray often
2. Study scriptures
3. Strive to do Gods will (keep commandments and do good)
4. Increase your service to others
The spirit of Christ is in all of us. All good comes from God. Whenever we are trying to do the right thing, we are following the spirit of Christ. As we do so, we become more sensitive to that spirit that leads us to do good and believe in Christ.
The spirit of Christ will lead us to pray, study scriptures, keep commandments, be sensitive to other peoples needs, etc.
First we need to know his name. Isaiah 42:8 tells us it is Jehovah and we need to use it. We need to read his word the bible daily meditate on what it says and apply it in our lives. We need to pray to him regularly. By learning about his appealing personality and how we can imitate him in our dealings with others this can draw us closer to him. Luke 11:28 says happy are those reading and keeping God's word. You can find more information at

"Love thy neighbor as thyself"
Hello, guy! I'm glad to know that a person so young like you are interested in become closer do God. You can believe that's the best decision you could take in your entire life. Congratulations. You know, I'm a 21 year old boy and recently I decided accept and follow Jesus Christ, and my life has been changing to better ever since. It was the best thing I have already done in my life. I don't know if you have already accept Jesus Christ as your saviour and delivered your life to Him, but if you still did not so, do that guy, you won't be repented.
The Apostle James wrote a pretty good verse about it: "Come near to God and he will come near to you" (James 4:8 NIV). Coming near to God means obey His commandments and do His will. You may do that through the reading of the Holy Bible (I suggest you start to read the New Testament books, first the Gospels, after the Apostolic Letters). The more you read, the more you will learn about God and closer you will be to Him. But it is necessary carry out what you read, ok? It's not use read without put in practice. Furthermore, you may become closer to God talking with Him through prayers. Tell him your issues, wishes, embarrassments and needs, and praise Him wholeheartedly. He will listen your outcry and you will listen His voice. Moreover, it's pretty important find a good church to go and participate in its activities, because when we are in communion with other like-minded brothers we are strengthened in faith. I suggest you seek a church near your home to go, even though you go alone in the first time. I guess you will make friends there. Finally, the best way to become closer to God is evangelizing other persons. Tell to your friends and to your parents about the love of God, which was incarnate in Jesus Christ, and intercede in their favour in your prayers. When you realize that your testimony made the difference in the life of some friends or in your family, you will rejoice in God.
Well, guy, it was what I had to share with you. I hope have helped you.
A hug!
Good for you!
There are many online radio stations and tons of great books. (Look for Max Lucado, Stormie Omartian and Joyce Meyer)
All these resources help to keep our mind and hearts focused on Him which is how we grow closer. Also the Bible of course. Check out The Message.
Invite Jesus to inhabit all your moments, your thoughts, words and actions. Trust Him when He says He is with you and has forgiven you. Then you can go out into the world armed with His grace and forgiveness for others.
The more time we spend with Him, the closer we get:)
That is wonderful and I commend you. It's beautiful when young people make the steps to get to know God and you must know that he is truly happy. “
What the Bible teaches: Jesus said that those “taking in knowledge of . . . the only true God” would receive blessings. (John 17:3)
How knowing the truth helps you: God enables us not only to comprehend him but also to develop a close friendship with him. God described the faithful man Abraham as “my friend,” and King David of Israel wrote: “The intimacy with Jehovah belongs to those fearful of him." (Not literally fearful more so that as your love grows for him you would be fearful to hurt his feelings same is if you would your parents) .”—Isaiah 41:8; Psalm 25:14.
Does the idea of having an intimate friendship with God seem farfetched? Perhaps so, but note what Acts 17:27 says: “[God] is not far off from each one of us.” In what way? Through the Bible, God provides what we need in order to know him well.
He tells us his name, Jehovah. (Isaiah 42:8 and Psalm 83:18) He has recorded his deeds toward mankind so that we can know the Person behind the name. More than that, God reveals his emotions to us. He is “merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abundant in loving-kindness and truth.” (Exodus 34:6)
Illustration: Have you ever purchased a gift for a close friend and then watched your friend’s face beam with surprise and appreciation upon receiving it? You probably thought long and hard about what type of gift would be appropriate for that person. Now consider this question: What kind of gift can you offer your Creator, Jehovah God? At first, the very idea might sound absurd. What does the Almighty need from a mere human? What could you possibly give him that he does not already possess? The Bible answers at Proverbs 27:11: “Be wise, my son, and make my heart rejoice, that I may make a reply to him that is taunting me.”
The Bible describes Jehovah as “the happy God.” (1 Timothy 1:11) He wants you to be happy too. In fact, his very own Word says: “Enjoy your youth. Be happy while you are still young.” (Ecclesiastes 11:9)
Many youths are putting up a hard fight for the faith, and this brings them joy. They realize that their life—though challenging at times—has real purpose and a real future. Continue, therefore, going to God in prayer asking him to bless your efforts in wanting to get to know him better, because believe that he truly has your best interests at heart. Make his heart rejoice, and he will make you rejoice now and to time indefinite!—Psalm 5:11.
Whatever you do good to others, just keep doing that without any expectations from them. Be true to yourself. GOD, the Supreme Power also known as the Supreme Energy is within all of us. We are the part of HIM. HE is always within us and with us. To feel that HE is with us, we will have to keep the dust of lust, passion, jealousy, greediness, anger, ego, egotism away from our Minds, Hearts and Intellect ("Chitta" in Hindi). This dust of lust, jealousy, greediness ...etc. is actually the main barrier or the veil between us,(i.e. Jeevatma) and the GOD which does not allow us to feel HIS grace. If we succeed in removing this dust from our mind and heart, one day, we would start feeling that GOD (i.e.God's Energy) is with us and taking care of all our needs (but not wants) in all the circumstances. This is what I personally feel.
If an all-powerful, all-knowing, supremely intelligent, eternal being of infinite love really existed, do you imagine it would be difficult to be close to it?
That's going to be difficult because god does not exist. You are, however, free to pretend all you want just like every other believer.
Journaling
Getting out into Nature'
Getting into Service (like you said you are doing with helping people)
A Daily Gratitude List and daily reading scripture. Neither of these have to take up much time. It's very much like eating right or exercising. It's a daily decision to follow God. So in the morning I suggest a little 5 minute time with God and in the evening a gratitude list to God. Gratitude keeps me grounded. It's amazing the more you practice these small things how much closer you can get to Him. Pray throughout your day. Look for where He wants you to go.
If have attached a story that I love. I had it next to my nightstand when I was your age. I think you will like it as well. It's not very long. About 5 pages I believe.

Perform your daily salats (prayers).
You have to stop searching for him. Let him find you. This presence that you wish to feel is already there with you even if you arent aware of it. Its actually not necessary to feel it all the time. The more you become dependent on "feeling" it, the further away from it you will actually get. You have to let go of your desire and your attachment to what you want to experience and only then will you be open to what he wants you to experience. That is the essence of faith; the ability to have peace in the knowledge that something is there even if you dont see it or feel it in that moment.
