your toaster has power cord with a resistance of 0.020omhs connected in series with a 9.6 nichrome heating element .if the potential difference between the terminals of the toaster is 120 v , how much power is dissipated in (a) the power cord and (b) the heating element

Total dissipated power P = V^2/(rc+rh) = 120^2/9.62 = 1497 watt
-in the cord Pc = P(rc/(rc+rh)) = 1497/(0.020/9.62) = 3 watt
- in the heating element Ph = P(rh/(rc+rh)) = 1497/(9.60/9.62) = 1494 watt
