A is one of the largest satellites of Jupiter. Its orbital period is 1.77 days and it is an average distance of 4.22x10^8m from Jupiter's centre.
1. Find the linear speed of A.
2. Find the gravitational strength at the orbit of A due to the presence of Jupiter.
3. Find the mass of Jupiter.
4. What is the orbital period of a satellite which is twice as far as A from Jupiter's centre.

1. Linear speed v=2pi r/period=2*3.14*4.22E8/1.77=14.98E8 m/day = 17338.25 m/s
2. g=v^2/r=17338.25^2/4.22E8=0.712358m/s^2
3. M=gr^2/G=0.712358*(4.22E8)^2/6.67E-11=1.901E27 kg
4. g'=GM/(2r)^2=g/4

g'=v'^2/r'=v'^2/2r
v'=sqrt(gr/2)

period'=v'/2pi r'=sqrt(gr/2) /4pi r
