How do you write and equation in slope-intercept form that passes through (4,6) and intersects the y-axis at 17?

y = mx + b <===slope-intercept form.
Substitute:
b= y-intercept= 17
x=4
y=6

y = mx + b <===solve for m.
6= m(4) +17
m= (6 -17)/4
m= -11/4

So, the equation of the line is:
y= -11/4x + 17 <===Answer(slope-intercept form.)

The line passes through (4, 6) and (0, 17).

Slope, m = (17 - 6)/(0 - 4) = -11/4
y-intercept, c = 17

The slope-intercept form: y = mx + c

Thus the required equation is: y = -(11/4)x + 17

rise = 6-17 = -11
run = 4-0 = 4
slope = rise/run = -11/4

y = (-11/4)x + 17

m = [ 6 - 17 ] / [ 4 - 0 [ = - 11/4

y - 6 = (-11/4) x

y = (-11/4) x + 6
