You have driver issues with your hardware. Try updating your hardware (start with video) with the Win 10 driver and see if it helps. I already downgraded for similar reasons...windows 7 will receive updates till 2020 so Windows 10 is not a necessity as of now....

Downgrade. But, its not a downgrade. Windows 7 is really an upgrade from Windows 10. So much useless crap and bells and whistles on it that the OS slow your pc down. Also, the new browser Windows Edge loves to stop responding A LOT. So go back to windows 7 bro.

To return to windows 7 follow the instruction.
1. open windows10.
2. in start, click setting.
3. in setting go on update > backup and recovery and click on return to windows 7, and follow the instructions on the screen.

Never a good idea to upgrade straight away i am still on windows 7. I never whent to Vista and that turned out to be a flop so i would return and wait till all the little bugs and so forth are figured out give it say 4 months.

NOT a Windows issue.
Update your headphones driver from the manufacturers website.

Back up everything important and then try clicking Start, Settings, Update & security, Recovery, Go back to (last version)

If that does not work it will depend on if M$ erase your recovery partition. It is my opinion that M$ deletes the recovery partition to keep people from going back to their old OS. I guess if you write as many bad OSes as they do you got to find a way to make it look like everyone likes it. Keep in mind if the recovery partition is there and you use it then all data will be lost. You should back up anything you want to keep.

When you press the power button start tapping the F key for your puter and the BIOS menu will open. Select recovery from the menu, answer the question and the recovery should begin. Depending on your puter this will take one to two hours.

I saved the worse for last. The other reason for forcing updates on you is to also force new releases of the OS on you. They call it Windows as a service. This means the next time they have a Vista or Windows 8 you will not have a choice to update to it. They will use your auto update feature to force it down your throat. If you do decide to update make a complete image of your hard drive in case you decide to go back to your original OS. We are finding using the go back feature built into Widows install is causing problem and M$ is deleting the recovery partition.

I actually think this is a Windows 10 bug. None of the internet 'solutions' worked for me when I get this. Windows 10 is only a month old and in the past a new Windows operating system only really becomes 'stable' after maybe 6 months, or when the first service pack is released. We are using it as first users and as such we have to expect glitches and problems.

Some of the 'solutions' suggest you are using 2 different graphics cards or that your graphics driver is in need of updating. You might try using the Windows basic driver but you may find it won't support the higher screen sizes your monitor currently shows. You might try disabling the fast-start 'hybernation' option which sometimes causes this.


I am using dual-boot with Windows 7 so I can use both but keep a stable computer. Have you considered that? You could roll-back to Win7 and then create a new partition on your hard drive and install Win10 into that partition. Then use dual-boot to make Win7 the default o/s. This way you can keep abreast of Win10 until it becomes reliable and still use Windows 7.

I wouldn't downgrade, because that is what I did and it was just not the same and I was still getting notification to download windows 10 and eventually I thought: oh what the heck, it is just a case of getting used to it, but no matter how I tried, I could not get it to download and asking a question on here, I got a fantastic answer and followed the instructions and now, back or forward, to windows 10 and yes, it does take a bit of time to get into the start, but actually I really like it now.

So, personally I would persevere with windows 10!

I'll share my experience. I upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 last week. My computer, previously quite responsive, had now slowed down to a laggy crawl. My hard drive was hammering like a woodpecker. After a couple of days I decided there was no way I was going to put up with this, so I reverted back to Windows 7 using the convenient downgrade feature of Windows 10. Even after the downgrade, it wasn't quite right, but I (luckily) had the sense to have created a full system image restore prior to the upgrade, so I made good use of it. I'm now back on Windows 7 and my machine is nice and responsive again. I still have the option to upgrade to Windows 10 again, should I wish to try again in the future. Maybe in 6 months these problems will have been ironed out. I only have an old 32 bit machine with 4GB RAM, so maybe it's just not sufficient for today's operating systems. Anyway, that's my experience.

The problem with upgrading to a new operating system is that certain things like applications and drivers sometimes are not compatible . Windows 10 is not necessary since your able to get updates from Windows 7 til 2020. Even though Windows 10 is a free upgrade which is nice I probably would just downgrade it to Windows 7 since it appears your not happy with Windows 10. The bad news is if you don t have a copy of Windows 7 than it probably cost you 100+ depending what version you get.

Note: I would suggest looking for the latest video driver for your computer which can be found in the manufacture site and see if that fixes you issue before you decide to downgrade.

I dual booted WinX and W7 on my rig, only to find a lot of bugs on the new windows OS, I have an SLI set up and it drives me crazy everytime i start a game and green lasers and artifacts fill my monitor, it makes me feel like windows 10 is not yet ready.

Still, it looks nice and it is very responsive i guess it depends on what you are going to be using it.

My advice would be: If you game you know it's all about performance and the new OS is not ready.

I too had windows 8.1 installed in my laptop, by my bad luck I upgraded it to windows 10. And now I have been facing issues in shutting down of the laptop. My laptop doesn`t shuts down completely. Its led light keeps glowing, So I have to manually switch it off every time. And it also doesn`t go to sleep mode.
Moreover sometimes I also have noticed black screens for a while.

So I would definitely suggest you to downgrade it to wondows 8.1 or 7 if you feel so.

I had that update reminder on constantly when starting up on my laptop but I took a pass and stuck with Windows 7 and I will tell you why. Think about it why do Windows want to publicise this update for free?. The answer is because of the fact that they want as many computers in the world to download their software so that they can obtain data and personal information from you and sell it to the highest bidder. None of your data is safe.

the first thing you should care before upgrading the OS is whether the drivers for your add devices are already out for that particular OS or not... Although there are windows default drivers for many add on hardware but some require 3rd party ones such as logitech and other gaming modules. So do a double check by hitting their site whether the windows 10 compatible drivers are out for the devices you're using right now.
the next thing is , no matter what microsoft or other OS developers say, new OSs are power hungry and they were built that way. for example its rare to find people still using 1GHz AMD athlon with 1 or 2 gb ram, 160gb hdds... Windows 7 is pretty lightweight but still it requires at least 4-6gb of ram to achieve the smoothness. So i'd not be surprised if the minimum config for windows 10 is 8gb of ram and at least 160gb in system drive.
Final thoughts: If you think your peripherals are not working properly on windows 10, check the latest driver , if there's none for windows 10, downgrade and better wait for the updates for those drivers. It just got released... give the market some time to adjust with it...

It definitely gets better. It's my second week of using Windows 10 I've had a better experience with 10 than I've had with 7 and 8. I only ha issues with 10 for the first day after I upgraded. But it's just the system optimizing the correct drivers, it'll settle down, just give it time.

When I downgraded my computer started acting even weirder, then I re-downloaded win 10 and now everything works fine.
