Possibly because NOT believing in the god of a religion that has been a supporter and instigator of immorality, violence and deceit for over 2000 years makes more sense.

It's beyond me how someone can be alive, conscious, and not believe in God.

there is no excuse for believing in god, it is painfully obviously mythology gone wrong.
Anybody believing such in the face of so much contrary evidence is beyond dishonest, they belong in a rubber room.

God is real

it makes sense to billions of people, even though they do not know the whole truth. it makes sense to me, i was born without religion, i was born again because of Jesus.

When you see a painting, do you believe the intricate, colorful painting created itself to be a picture perfect masterpiece? No, you do not! When you see a skyscraper, do you believe that there was no contractor to put together the design to create a sturdy structure? No, you do not! Do you believe that the universe could contain the exact amount of gases and the right gases to be able to sustain life could possibly come by accident? You do!
You see the issue here? Everything we see in life has a creator. A clock has a clock maker. A sword has a blacksmith. A house has a contractor. A painting has a painter. The universe has a creator. Beings you admit that believing in God does not make any sense, than you must be an atheist who believes in what scientists tell you to believe-evolution.

The rest came from the deeply fertile imaginations of plaster of Paris workers. Java Man is now regarded as fully human. And don’t look at to Neanderthal Man for any evidence of evolution. He died of exposure. His skull was exposed as being fully human, not ape. Not only was his stopped posture found to be caused by disease, but he spoke and was artistic and religious.

The only way primitive religion exists today is through the child abuse of forcing it into very, very young children but thanks to better education and growing intellects so many teens are able to discover the truth, throw off the indoctrination and step into the real world!
