Partial Fractions what if the numerator and denominator have the same degree?

Then one fraction has a denominator of 1.

(x^2 + 5x)/ (x^2 - 1) = 1 + (5x+1)/(x^2 - 1)
= 1 + 3/(x - 1) + 2/(x+1)
