Can anyone deduce the significance of this string of letters?

WTF? Y/A won't let me post the entire string. I'll have to delete the question and post a link to an offsite copy. Now, how you do you delete a question? It used to be simple, but I don't see a "Delete" option anywhere here... <sigh>

I can tell it's a DNA sequence. I'm not sure what it codes for, though.

Lysine, Lysine, Thrionine, Proline.....

I'm working on it...

The A is for atheist, hence its priority in the sequence.
The C is for christian, hence it coming later than atheist in terms of importance
The T is for Theist, of which there are a lot, yet they too come after atheist in terms of importance
The G is for "god", and is a misprint.

It appears to be a DNA sequence of some sort.

I ran a BLAST (basic local alignment search tool) search on the first bit of the sequence you gave to find out what the identity of the sequence is, and it came back with several 100% identical matches. You would need to use BLAST on the entire sequence to find out what it is more exactly. Here is a link to the BLAST search tool: http://blast.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/Blast.cgi

How to use BLAST:
If you know what organism the sequence came from, select that organism under "BLAST Assembled Genomes". If you do not know, then under "Basic BLAST", select "nucleotide blast".

Where it says "Enter accession number(s), gi(s), or FASTA sequence(s)", you place your entire sequence in the box (Only the As, Ts, Gs, and Cs).

If you selected "nucleotide blast" in step one, in the section labeled "Choose Search Set", where it says "Database", use the drop-down menu to select "nucelotide collection (nr/nt)".

Lastly, click the blue button that says BLAST. Wait a few minutes for the search to occur. Then, you will get a page and if you scroll down, you will see a list of whatever DNA sequences match yours and how similar they are.

If the sequence is a made-up sequence for some class, then the BLAST is not necessary (and will yield no results). Also, if BLAST does not yield results but the sequence is not made up, then perhaps you need to use a different database to BLAST search for what you want, or perhaps NCBI does not contain the sequence in any of their databases.

Those letters are symbols for individual units of DNA. I don't know if they make any sense in the order that you present them.

I'm going to guess you were going for your mapped DNA sequence.

cytosine, guanine, adenine, thymine , abbreviated as C, G, A, and T, respectively.

DNA?

Hmm some kind of DNA thingy?

"T" basically rules the world.

You can delete a question *until* the 1st answer shows up = after that, everything stays.

Sorry, m'dear... Under Yahoo's current setup, you can only delete your question if it doesn't have any answers. Once a question gets its first answer the option to delete is removed from the edit button so then the only way it can be deleted is if it's reported as a violation by other users.

So, you're stuck with this question being posted. You COULD edit it and make it ANONYMOUS, but that won't delete it.
