Offering more in rent than the agent listed it for?

Hello there, I was trying to up my chances in getting this rental home that I fell in love with. I almost feel wrong by saying in my email that I am willing to give them 675 instead of 650... what's your opinion in doing so? I haven't filled out an application yet because this company only does one application at a time, but I am trying to persuade them towards me. Because if this rental application that they're viewing right now gets declined, I want to swoop in and be the next one to give them my application.

Renting is not like buying. In my state we are legally required to take the 1st qualified application so offering more would be pointless.

Being pushy, trying to hurry the landlord into choosing you or any other strong arm tactics to get approved over other people are big red flags to landlords that you are trying to hide something. You annoy a landlord they are not going to rent to you.

I think its reasonable in this situation, but requires tact that you aren't trying to "pull" something over on the landlord. Make your offer with the reason why you are willing to pay more at the same time being empathetic to the credit approval process mentioning your strong rental history which you would be happy to provide references. You could also offer to sign a longer lease.
