15號放榜，我相信大約在這些時間yahoo知識都出現我這類問題，我都有望大家盡量回答。
我選7科，最佳成績是17分，不高，亦不算太低，但英文只有第二級，中:3、英:2、數:4、通:3、physics:4、m2:3、ict:3。(傾向理科)
我傾向日後選擇理科來讀，因為讀中六時沒有考慮太多，而且jupas擺位出錯，而且我這個分數都太難取得jupas的高級文憑，因此放榜後可以說甚麼後路都沒有(十分迷惘)。其後我報了ive(電機工程高級文憑:已有offer)，我再報了hkcc的機械工程高級文憑(17號才知道有冇位)。我首先報了一些相對有興趣(但是都不大興趣的科目)，其後(即現在)，我正在考慮自修的方向，我不是現在才考慮自修，我是早在中五暑假都有考慮到，當我不能入政資學位，分數又相差不太遠的話，會選擇自修，令我沒準備太多後路。我知道自修不用做sba，彈性較大，但正因如此，其自由度過大可能令自修生「三分鐘熱度」，但我知道我是個自律的人，自問可以每天8小時或以上溫習(因為中六時也是這樣)，但我的讀書方針可能真的出錯(多生硬記法，少練習paper)，而我有信心的數理科都達不到第5級(我預期很可能的成績)，但幾乎各科都不是我的預期成績，正因如此，我的前路又不是我太想讀的科目和機構，我怕我這樣讀高級文憑下去對我自己沒有好處，例如gpa的成績以及日後接不到政資學位(ugc)，而我的成績對於重修來說又有點危險(我想讀的政資科目)大約21-24分，在此希望各位能給予意見。我的立場是，既然ive、hkcc都不是我太喜歡的科目或機構，我的後路真的不多，所以我傾向想自修來盡量提升個人的知識(英文和理科)和經歷，當然自修仍達不到分數，我懂得排jupas的高級文憑位，讓我較有機會接回ugc。我的憂慮真的很大，希望各位能給予我一些意見。
我以上所提供關於我的資料不太多，如果有需要其他關我的資料，可要求我提供。

首先講你想自修的問(即non-jupas),假使你是一個極自律的人,能夠緊持到重考的一刻,但能否肯定這次考試學科會高出最小3分,因為大學收生計分制對重讀或自修生都要求較高,即會把你的分數扣1-2分不等,如果你下次英文有4,佢扣你2分你都是2沒有提升分數,重有大學對重考單科者要求更高,你今次4個主科+最好1科只得16分(不是17分你計錯了),比心儀學系最低的21分還久5分,再加上重考要增加要求,即你自修有否可能提升到最少有7分(這只是最低分要求即都未必能入大學),即使你重考英文1科取得5**都唔夠分入大學,因為重考要扣1-2分.至於讀HD/ASSO,完成畢業後如果你GPA有3.6或以上才有機會入回資助大學,但有可能大學要你由第1年開始重讀(即讀4年成為學士),也有可能比你接上2年變學士.
要GPA有3.6以上接近科科A,二年分數平均累計,如有一之失手,九成追唔返,大部份HD/ASSO都有自資直上學士學位課程,你只要有錢就可以多讀其後2年學士學位,而學費通常以每UNIT計, 每UNIT約2500-2800不等,通常最少都要修60UNIT以上各系要求不相同,完成畢業就是學士與資助大學相同.

The good news is you have an excellent understanding about yourself, so that you know how to make a right decision.
The bad news is you seem to be confused about the entire higher education system, which has confused how you make your choice.
In answering your concerns:
1. You should NEVER consider retaking HKDSE unless it is truly necessary. As you have said, your chance of improvement is not high at all. So why do you have to waste time on something that you are not even certain?
It also sounds like that you know you will end up in HD/AD regardless. It is only a matter of what you are going to study. So why bother retaking HKDSE?
2. Sciences is not a major, but an integrated program. Eventually, you still have to pick a major.
If I were you, I would choose the HD program from HKCC (providing an offer will be received). In general, programs from HKCC is better designed than most sub-degree programs in Hong Kong. At the least, HKCC provides conditional admission to PolyU SPEED to qualified students. At the least, your future is more clear than most people who choose otherwise.
Mechanical Engineering may not be your field, but you can request a transfer once you are enrolled into the program.
I have no comment about the IVE program, except to the fact that since you know that your chance of improving HKDSE is not high, it is a good alternative for you without wasting any additional time.
Remember - you can still retake HKDSE and apply for JUPAS even you are studying in the HD program you mentioned (as they are all self-funding).
