Is debit card fraud something to worry about?
I want to use a debit card, because I don't want to accidentally slip into dept with a credit card, but I've heard that using a debit card is risky, because if someone has your debit card info, then it's harder to disable than a credit card. And they have your money, not borrowed money.
I think I'll start using a credit card for gas, and online purchases, but a debit card for over the counter stuff. As long as I watch my balance, and pay off my credit card every month. Good idea? Opinions?

It's up to you. Debit card fraud happens but so does getting run over by a bus. I Take appropriate precautions against those 2 things happening but I don't worry about either.
I rarely use my debit card for the same reason; debit cards don't usually come with 0 fraud protection liability, but credit cards do.
Also another reason to use the credit card all the time is to get rewards (cash back). it is not that much, but it is free money as well.
You can always have your eyes on your balance and pay your statement in full. always buy what you need not what you want, and you will be fine and wont slip into debts.
I'd say have it both ways: link your credit card bill to your bank account so that you always pay in full every month. Then use your credit card for everything you can. Not only do you get credit card benefits (including decreased liability for fraudulent purchases, but also things like cashback) but you don't have to be worried about remembering payments.
