what is drama class in middle school like?

Depends on the school.
We went on field trips to see plays
We did skits
We practiced scenes in class
We did a musical..
Good fun..

Just like drama class in elementary school, but a little more detailed and involved, and just like drama class in high school, but a little LESS detailed and involved.
