Generally speaking, there are 2 ways to become an airline pilot:

a. Cadet program

Basically, the airline sponsors you at the way. The catch is the program is way too competitive and you can be forced to drop out before you can complete.

b. Self-financing

Basically, you will be responsible for your training up to CPL. Then you apply to a pilot job with the airline. It is only a matter of time you can do this. The catch is the money.

The good news is airlines prefer hiring licensed pilots rather than cadets due to the cost. The bad news is they want pilots to have paid experience, which may be difficult in some cases.

2. It depends on which routes you want to choose. Except for English, preparation for specialized knowledge is not necessary.
