I don't understand why I'm depressed?

I'm a young teenage girl (I won't give my exact age, but between 13-16 years old) and I have a life that I know a lot of people dream of. My family love me (even though my parents are divorced), I have a good group of friends, I go to school, I'm very nearly a straight A student and overall my life sounds fairly appealing.

But there's a side to me that no one knows about, and that's my depressed side. I don't know why I'm depressed (stress from school, sexuality confusion and bullying seem to be the most likely answer though) but I definitely am. I commonly resort to self harm (including, but not limited to cutting, pinch, pulling out hair and burning) and have seriously contemplated suicide multiple times.

Does anyone know a way for me to get help without telling my parents? I know my parents, and I can tell you right now that they wouldn't understand.

I got help without my parents knowing by going to Headspace. They are awesome.

Maybe your parents wouldn't understand but that does not mean they would not get you help. Sometimes these feelings are biochemical in nature and not caused by events around you. Seeing a professional is the best thing you can do. Don't be afraid to tell your parents, they love you and want you to be happy.
