aide和NGO's的問題

2015-07-04 11:20 am
在蔡英文CSIS的演講稿中有一句話:
Under my watch, Taiwan will meaningfully participate and contribute, provided that it is not discriminated against, in international projects such as humanitarian assistance and disaster relief , medical assistance, and joint efforts in economic aide with backup support from our active NGO’s.

I'S 和 IS

所以,如果是平常的句子,複數縮寫的寫法應為
CDs

NGO同理

不過我希望我是錯的

恩...與其說不常用,應該說是錯的
cited from Oxford Dictionaries:
The general rule is that you should not use an apostrophe to form the plurals of nouns, abbreviations, or dates made up of numbers: just add -s (or -es, if the noun in question forms its plural with -es).

關於aide 我同意TOMING88 和 prisoner62535 所說的

學任何語言不外乎就是要有恆心跟毅力

我覺得白天有工作的上班族特別適合線上學習英文

才不用下了班就急急忙忙趕著去補習班上課

光來回車程就省了1~2個小時,省下的時間可以多背好幾個單字

也可以輕鬆在家線上學英文,想學好英文的人這是一個很不錯的機會

用正確的方法一次把英文學起來!!

I think both are typos. "Aide" should have been aid and "NGO's" should have been NGOs.

In addition, I think the latter might have come from

"with the back up support of our active NGO's"

aid vt., to help
aid n.,=help, support, assistance. However here it means economic help/support/assistance under English Choi in her CSIS !
aide means aide-de-camp n., officer who attends general, conveys his orders, etc. plural=aides-de-camp; meaning helping eg:-the former HK Governor--Sir Graham etc.(1952---).The usage (aide) is wrong here !

NGOs---means the plural of NGO.
However the Apostrophe n., is a mark (') showing the omission of a letter or letters in a word. Here NGO's means something(=money) belongs to NGO,which is wrong ! NGOs are correct to offer their effort, exertion, endeavour, struggle, strain, trial etc.as a backup support from the (CSIS article by English Choi ! )
