I'm filling out a health insurance application and I pay internet, rent, gas, and electricity. I know I can't list a phone bill, but what about internet?

What the heck are you talking about? You don't have to put down your expenses on a health insurance application.

Who's asking you to do THAT?

Internet is not a necessity. You can use the library's internet for free.

Are you applying for Medicaid? Internet and Cable are not essential such as rent, gas, and telephone. List it,but it won't lower you available income.

You can list it and provide proof for it, but, I don't think they consider it because internet is NOT actually a necessity. You can live without internet.

If you list something that they don't count, they will just mark it off when they review your application.

I don't understand expenses unless you are talking about itemizing business expenses proving to lower your taxable income. And when it comes to internet access, that could be deducted if you worked from a home office, and then it could only be partially deducted. But if you don't work from home, its not an expense.
