LOL, that's Zentangle (the newest books are calling it zendoodle). You start with a simple set of shapes and doodle in all the fine details. It's very relaxing.
Google the word 'zentangle' and click on 'images', the style came out around 4 years ago and has since exploded. Our library has two 'how to' books on it even.
