Is it great that you thought about it already! As an unemployed university graduate, let me give you some ideas.

College/University life is very different than high school, it needs you to be very independent and keep track of yourself or else you could possibly fail school and drop out. Also, before you pick your high school courses right now, think about which direction you would like to be in. I understand that you are still young, so don't need to be specific, just think -- would you like to be in "science, social sciences, business, arts, engineering etc".

Then if you have chance, chat with your relatives/ volunteer supervisor and see what certification they need. See if you find something you would like to be in, make sure to find out whether they need a master degree or no. If yes, I would suggest that you should look at "easier" schools so that you have higher grades to get into master programs, if not, they go with a more reputed school.

After all, right now, i'd say that you should go volunteer more, and understand more about different occupation and see what interests you. Then you will get a rough idea on what direction you would like to pursue.

I don't think it's weird. Because now that I'm an incoming freshman, I don't know what course to take. (Ha ha. Never thought it would be this hard.) So it's good that you're thinking about it while you're still young, you won't end up like me. Lol. Good luck!!

Not weird at all! I hope it serves as a motivation for you to do well in school and in your community. College for me was a blast; meeting new people, having some independence, engaging with professors, etc. It's really what you make it though. Have a good balance between work and play and you'll be fine :)

Just concentrate and focus on what's first before thinking about College too much. You still have a lot of years left before the time arrives and you can only progress to the next stage after completing and passing your current stage. However, thinking about your future is always a good thing no matter how old you are. Good luck!

its a bit early to think so hard into it, you're still so young you really should relax and enjoy your time to be allowed to get away with being dumb and fun.
I am about to begin my second year of college and its great! I love how nobody cares for the most part if you are in class or leave/arrive late and early. The freedom is the best part. You just have to learn how to be responsible because no one is going to remind you of all the deadlines and due dates so its important to keep an organized planner.

Check the colleges where you are. The community college here lets students take up to 30 credits free their junior and senior years of high school, which is half way to an Associate's degree. I know it seems sort of far ahead, but if you have an idea of what you want to do now, you can plan ahead.

I have visited a four year traditional college, though I am a community college student. The college that I visited had a "shoe tree" where at the end of every semester, students would throw their shoes on the tree. I couldn't help but feel like this was a waste of shoes that could be given to those less fortunate, as opposed to ruined by rain, but they all seemed very happy with the tradition... Also, they had a cafeteria where you could sit and eat/study for hours at a time, all for one price which you could either pay when you got there or it could be included in your tuition. The dorm rooms varied a lot in size. Some rooms had 2 roommates while others had 3, but they were all compared to apartments. There was a common living area with a kitchen, living room, and bathroom that about 10 people shared, regardless of how many people shared a room.

My favorite part about college so far has been joining the student government. It has really given me many opportunities that I never thought possible (like a few months ago I went down to NASA's Stennis Space Center and got to build a rover, because I got a great letter of recommendation from my adviser). It has also helped me be more helpful to others and less shy about speaking up if I know I can help.

It's great you're thinking ahead so early. It will just make your future easier. I suggest you research the colleges websites and go on tours to get an idea.
