Making f(x)=ax^2+bx+c to f(x)=a(x-h)^2+k

Example was 3x^2+6x+9 then it became 3 (x+1^2) +6 Can someone explain how and why?

✔ 最佳答案
f(x) = 3x^2 + 6x + 9
f(x) = 3(x^2 + 2x) + 9
f(x) = 3(x^2 + 2x + 1) + 9 - 3
f(x) = 3(x + 1)^2 + 6

Look, you must try to make it into a complete square term.
3x^2+6x+9 can be written as (√3x)^2 +2(√3x)(√3)+ (√3)^2 +6 which is of the form a^2 +2ab+b^2
So, 3x^2+6x+9= (√3x+√3)^2 +6= 3(x+1)^2 +6
