what are my chances at getting hired?

So today was my 4th time ever taking a job interview. Its for a clerk position at a local grocery store. I'm a little worried because after the interview all they said was they will give me a call next after conducting other interviews. This worries me because in all my other interviews, they always told me I had the job as soon as it was over. Were they not impressed with my qualifications and skills? Is that just a nice way of saying chances are they won't hire me??

In my own experience, the same thing was said to me, and...they never called. Generally speaking, if a manager tells you something along the lines of, "we are interviewing other candidates", you didn't get the job. Of course still be hopeful but in the meantime get on another job.

send a thank you note for the interview. it will make a great impression and get you in front of the other candidates
