The boiling point (沸點) of dry ice is -78.5 degrees Centigrade, whereas its melting point is -56.6 degrees C. Because the melting point is higher than the boiling point, dry ice (solid carbon dioxide) changes to carbon dioxide gas directly when its temperature reaches its boiling point (i.e. -78.5'C). This is the sublimation (昇華) process.
