你所使用的是 simple past tense (簡單過去式) 和 past continuous tense (過去進行式)，那是正確的，無問題。

其實你所說的句子和你描述的情況並沒有矛盾。

你的句子是：
"When I saw Mary, Mary was waiting for a bus."
（當我見到瑪莉時，她正在等候巴士。）

以上的文法正確，時態的使用都無問題。

你在題目中第一句的描述已經是：
「我昨日駕車去到一條街離遠已經見到Mary 等緊巴士」

那已經代表你的英文句子無問題，之後的描述亦沒有矛盾，因為當你最初見到 Mary 時，她的確正在等候巴士。不論你們之後有否打招呼，不論之後她還是否在等待，也不會影響當初的情況。

The past continuous"Mary was waiting"
is used when two actions happened in the past at the same time. The past continuous is used for the longer action.
eg:-(1)When my car drove pass the bus stop, Mary was waiting for the bus.
-----(3)Mary expected me to give her a lifting convenience ,when she was waiting for a bus.
-----(4)Mary was waiting to see what would happen from a "Hi" from my car.
TODAY:-
------(5)How long have you been waiting at bus stop, after you saw me,Mary ?
------(6)There was no problem that the bus came to Mary who was waiting.
------(7)When the bus came, Mary was boarding the bus with no problem.
The past continuous "Mary was waiting"
if in both actions were long, we use the past continuous tense for both.
eg:-(2)When I was driving along Mary's bus stop, I was saying a "Hi" at the same time.
---------When I was driving along the same road, Mary was standing, was being seen by me, at the same bus stop, along the same road.
