16 walking alone in NYC?

I ve been a New Yorker all my life , but im always with someone when i go to the city ( I live in Queens) ... and i find myself to be very mature and independent for my age. I love adventure and i just wanna go to the city by myself so i can see what its like and just take long walks to no where. But since ill be alone, ( and i am pretty and have curves) im just worried about all those creeps checking me out while im by myself. Should i go by myself? It wont be at nighttime.

At 16, you can certainly be in Manhattan alone. Just use your "city smarts" and walk and talk like a New Yawker and you'll be fine. Childish males gawking at pretty females is disgusting and should be totally ignored. It's not your fault. It's theirs. IGNORE them.

If you let men looking at you/catcalling control your life then it's not going to be an easy one. Unfortunate but true. It's something that every woman has to deal with. Not sure where in Queens you live but Manhattan is generally safer since there are more people around. As long as you're not disobeying your parents by doing so, go for it.
