The Balance of Society, Environment and Economy
The movie is based on a sad but true story of Lynas in Malaysia. Which the company earns money by harming other country for the safe of local environment and the government chose economy development from its society, resulting the reduction of equality and safety to the citizen. It brings us a message sustainability is important to us.
The company thinks that their environment is safe by transferring the plant into other country. It is however, local changes can have global effects, earth is a closed system where the materials are trapped and go around inside. Water, soil and air will be polluted to affect the local area and also the global. The mining process laced with radioactive materials, toxic metals and dust that disruptive to the environment and human health.
Industrial development is the fast way to boom economic growth, nevertheless, it takes heavy environment cost. As a developing country, money is considered as the first place than nature, Malaysia government caught this opportunity at the cost of casing serious environmental consequences and difficult to restore to its original quality without consulting people. The environmental factors are the cause of a significant burden of death, disease and disability by the lack of scientific understanding and values.
Facing with the sadly fact, townspeople stand up to fight the company and government rather than giving up to their future. “Something is better than nothing.”—which brings them the faith to keep trying to save themselves. When there is no one can help us, we are going to step forward; when the effect appear, we have to create cause for future.
Education is not getting good result but gaining knowledge, learning to make judgment and preparing for mature life. Experience and care about the events and politics can illustrate a correct value and view. Though education, we can judge right and wrong and suggest ways to create a better earth,
