You got scammed & screwed by a stupid, ignorant BYBer. No puppy should be released until they are a full 8 to 10 weeks old. That is THE LAW!!! LAW!!! They let the pups go early so it will throw the mama back into a heat so they can breed her again back to back. That is hard on a mama dog but they don't care.

Be SURE to get this pup Vetted as soon as possible to be sure you got a healthy pup & that it is not sick or deformed in any way. Plus you can be guaranteed that is GSD will have severe HIP DISPLASIA when older. BYBERs do not guarantee anything about their pups, where reputable breeders do all kinds of testing to make sure two dogs are compatible to breed & they guarantee the health & temperament of the pups/dogs they sell.

You need to find a growth chart for GSDs. google it.

It's a shame I didn't see this sooner. Your BEST ANSWER is complete nonsense. As far as the dog's weight...it just depends on the breeding. He/she should be lightly chunky, but not fat. Rapid growth will begin soon and then the dog should be very lean.

One of my golden retriever puppies weighed 17 pounds when he was 6 weeks old. So I'd say the weight of your dog is fin. But why do you have a 5 week old puppy

ASKING THIS MEANS YOU ARE NOT IN CONTACT WITH YOUR VET ...YOU HAVE THIS PUP 4 WEEKS TO SOON

Ask the vet when you take it in for it's wellness exam and bring in a fresh fecal specimen.

Weight means nothing alone. Her size vs her weight is what determines if she is overweight/underweight. Post a picture.
