醫院嘅輪班工作, 24小時輪流值班

1. The major difference is Shift duty/work shift does not necessary mean 24-hour shift.

For example, some hospital works does not require overnight shift. So instead of 3 shifts per day (for 24-hour), only 2 8-hour shifts will be needed.

2. Yes. For example, the scheduling of A&E and ICU are different from typical wards.

This applies to pay as well.

醫院有兩種輪班的

所謂24-HR SHIFT係真係24小時當值，例如有些醫生(實習期)或急症室的是直萿4小時當值才放工的。
正當的SHIFT DUTY則是一天三班(每班8小時)的其中一班，醫院的好像由A-P-N，即A=早更(7AM-3PM)，P=午更(3PM-10PM)，N=晚更(11PM-7AM)，當然還未計"交更"時間，通常會有半小時至一小時的"交更"，即是要預早一小時跟上一更同時接手和交接資料和巡一次病人等等。

其他由這種SHIFT產生的不同編更和休息更的安排則按各部門人手和當值的主管級編配。有些規定當晚更便要放兩更休息，或者假如被編DOUBLE SHIFT連做兩更便要休息番一日等等。當然亦有所謂的ON-CALL 36小時，即係當值24+12小時，不過當然不是"做足"，只是要人在醫院STANDBY，通常8小時真正工作後可在休息室睡覺也可以的，但一有事就要起身救人，休息完8小時也要正式做另一個8小時，所以行政規定計算上是"工作+休息+工作+休息"的36小時，但現實當然沒這麼理想，有些不幸可以36小時內只能睡幾次一兩小時。

24小時輪值即係早中夜三班制，有突發事件，颱風等都要返。不定時當值，辦公時間外當值，緊急時當值，總之要隨傳隨到。
