Help, my Dachsund has been limping severely!?

My miniature long-haired Dachsund, Champ, has been limping severely on his front left leg. He is young but I don't know the exact age (Under 4). I can't recall anything that would've caused this and I'm worried. I have heard they have very delicate spines, since they are shaped like wiener dogs. His back seems perfectly fine and it's only his leg. Please help! (NOT looking for "Take him to the vet!").

My poodle was doing the same thing but with her back leg. Many different things can lead to leg pain. First check your dog's paws for small things that could be stuck. He may be uncomfortable with you doing that, but if there is a splinter or rock, it could be causing this whole thing. Back pain can also cause some leg pain, but your dog is so young that i don't think thats the case. Let him sleep tonight but if he's still acting up with his leg, i do suggest going to the vet for a better diagnosis of the issue

If you're not looking for "take him to the vet" then you must enjoy watching your dog suffer.

Do you really think anyone on Yahoo can tell you what's wrong just from your description??

Don't be stupid as well as cruel. Go to a vet for proper diagnosis and care. Can't afford a vet? Then you should not have a dog.

Look => Stop being hard-headed or cruel to your dog. WE cannot possibly correctly diagnose your dog over the internet. We do not have a magic crystal gazing balls to "SEE" the dog or to read the dog's MIND - as to what happened to it. And NO ONE on yahoo is a vet.

Many things could be causing your dog to limp & it is very UNLIKELY to be a spinal issue. But whether it is or not, the dog DOES need to see a veterinarian - unless you want to continue to MAKE the dog suffer.

BTW WITHOLDING veterinary care to a sick or injured animal (regardless of your ability to PAY for it) is considered ANIMAL ABUSE and you can be convicted of it. If you cannot provide care, you can surrender your pet to any no kill shelter or ASPCA and they will see to it the dog does get the needed vet care.

Check his pads, there could be something lodged between his toes. Also check for splinters, thorns, and such. Run your hand down his leg, feel for signs of discomfort (He might whine or attempt to bite) especially if there is a certain place he could have strained or broken it.
